Today is World Health Day

Back in 1950 World Health Day was founded by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The day is celebrated on 7th April each year.

This year, the theme is ‘building a fairer, healthier world.’ It aims to highlight how some people can live healthier lives than others, entirely due to the conditions in which they are born, grow, live, work and age.

According to WHO, healthcare costs push about 100 million people into extreme poverty each year because of out-of-pocket spending.

This is not only unfair – it is preventable. WHO are calling on leaders to make sure everyone has living and working conditions that are conductive to good health.

We make sure working conditions are healthy places for staff.

At EEUK, we have a part to play in caring for the health and wellbeing of employees across the UK. We make sure businesses follow regulations to prevent illnesses and deaths from happening due to conditions at work and help employers measure and control health risks.

Every year, thousands of workers become ill from exposure to a range of workplace hazards. From noise induced hearing loss to illnesses caused by vibration exposure and contact with hazardous substances, people’s health is suffering due to conditions they are subjected to at work, which should not have to be the case.

This World Health Day make sure you prioritise your employees’ health. Take out the right measures to protect your workers from developing illnesses in the future, today.
