At EEUK, we’re dedicated to creating a work environment where our employees feel supported, valued, and empowered. In celebration of International Week of Happiness at Work, we’re sharing eight ways we prioritise our team’s happiness, well-being, and growth every day.
1. Access to a Confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
We understand that well-being isn’t limited to the workplace. That’s why we offer a private, confidential counselling service through our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). Our highly qualified counsellor, Alice, has earned glowing reviews from employees. Here’s what one of our team members shared:
“Alice supports me in making positive changes for myself and assists me with making the right decisions for me. I feel I have become a stronger person and more fun to be around. I have even had a couple of people comment on how I seem happier recently. And I honestly feel this in myself. I wouldn’t have been able to make these life changes without Alice.”
We’re proud to offer this level of emotional and psychological support to our employees.
2. Access to Perkbox
After passing probation, all employees gain access to Perkbox, an incredible platform offering rewards, discounts, and well-being resources. Each team member gets 50 points per month, which they can redeem for rewards such as restaurant discounts, shopping deals, and fitness memberships. In addition, the platform’s Wellbeing Centre provides tools like guided meditations, fitness plans, and mental health resources, helping our employees maintain balance in all areas of life.
3. A Supportive and Inclusive Working Environment
At EEUK, we make employee culture our number one priority. We want to feel like a family, and we do that by building a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative environment. To ensure we’re meeting our employees’ needs, we conduct quarterly employee surveys to check in on everyone’s well-being and make sure their voices are heard.
We also encourage everyone to read our glowing reviews on Indeed, where employees consistently praise the culture of respect and teamwork we’ve cultivated.
4. Commitment to Charity Work
Charity work is a cornerstone of what we do at EEUK. Last year, we raised over £3,500 for various causes, and we set a goal of £4,000 for this year. We’re proud to say we’ve already surpassed that, reaching £4,300—and we’re confident we’ll hit at least £5,000 before the year is out!
We encourage all employees to get involved, whether it’s participating in charity events, volunteering, or helping to organise fundraisers. Every quarter, we nominate a charity—often chosen by an employee who is passionate about the cause. By giving our team time and resources to support the causes closest to their hearts, we create a deeper connection between our work and the communities we serve.
5. Continuous Training and Development Opportunities
We’re passionate about helping our employees grow. From professional qualifications like Occupational Health certifications, Accountancy, and HR, to training in Salesforce, administration, and more, we invest heavily in employee development. As one employee noted in an Indeed review:
“They are constantly financing courses for their employees to grow and develop into stellar occupational hygienists. The support needed to grow is also offered, and everyone is always willing to help each other where possible.”
We never cut corners when it comes to our employees’ progression—your growth is our priority.
6. Employee Events and Networking Opportunities
At EEUK, we love bringing people together, and we do this through various employee events. Our annual Summer Party and Christmas Party are highlights of the year, where everyone can relax and enjoy time together outside of the office. Additionally, we host Operational Development Meetings (ODMs), where the operations team comes together for team-building activities, training, and collaboration. We run virtual team building events such as coffee mornings and book clubs, to ensure both our home-based and office-based staff keep connected.
Employees are also given the opportunity to attend networking events, where they can develop professionally and make industry connections.
7. Commitment to High-Quality Technical Equipment
To ensure our employees can do their jobs efficiently and effectively, we provide everyone with high-quality technical equipment. From up-to-date laptops to advanced software, we make sure our team has the tools they need to stay ahead of industry trends and make their day-to-day tasks easier. This investment in technology ensures that our team can focus on delivering their best work without technical barriers.
8. Inclusivity and Diversity Focus
Inclusivity is a core value at EEUK. Our People Committee is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion across the organisation. Our incredible HR team continuously reviews policies and ensures we are compliant with the latest legislative changes, ensuring everyone feels respected and valued. We believe that a diverse workforce strengthens our team, fostering creativity and innovation.
At EEUK, we believe that employee happiness is about more than just offering benefits. It’s about creating a work environment where people feel appreciated, supported, and empowered to grow. From our inclusive culture to our commitment to continuous development, we’re proud of the positive and thriving workplace we’ve built.
